DSL or Broadband Cable

How to choose what is right for?

We explain it in easy to understand language so you can make an informed decision on what will be the right decision for your situation.

                                                      Facts

Cable or Broadband

DSL

  1. Cable is faster
  2. More reliable (I have noticed less down time than when I had DSL!)
  3. Speeds above 2 to 3 megs (2000 to 3000 kB's)
  1. Speeds vary to how close you are to the CO
  2. Two types of connections Dynamitic and Static
(Dynamitic changes IP address every time you log on "PPOE")
(Static has a fixed IP address and is easy to locate on the internet to remote in but costs more to get)
  3. Speeds top out at 1.5 megs if you are close to CO. The average seems to be around 768 KB's.

Depending what you are doing on the internet, cable is the faster and in most cases more reliable than DSL!.

But if you need a dedicated IP you are stuck with DSL or a T1 line.
Then again there is Time Warner cable "Dedicated Business class"
(cost is high for a static on cable)

Price varies but most are within a few bucks of each other.
